DOMAIN

Honouring our shared heritage

The Uni began its life on the Queen’s Domain, so bringing life back to this area by reinvigorating the dormant heritage buildings is one of the ways we’re paying homage to our, and Hobart’s, history. In many ways, it feels a lot like coming home.

To honour this heritage, the Domain is becoming the soul of our campus, and will serve the community of Hobart as much as it does our students and staff. The Domain will host a public art gallery and the University museum, as well as becoming the home of Nursing, Pharmacy and Psychology.

The lowest slopes of the Domain will feature a series of community gardens. And most importantly, a permanent memorial of the University’s Apology to the Tasmanian Aboriginal People will continue to be at the heart of this precinct.
